We're still in September but my darling husband is a huge (HUGE) fan of Halloween, and so he's already been unpacking the orange and black decor. Lucky me :)
And so, I was inspired this week to step out of my comfort zone and test out a super vampy purple for the next installment of my Purple Lip Challenge. I selected L'Oreal's Infallible Liquid Lipstick line, which has interested me because of it's incredible selection of colors. The color used here was #356 Deeply Disturbed.
Right off the bat, I was impressed with the application, because the shape of the wand is not your typical sponge, but instead has a really cool angled design that allows you to be super precise. Also, for a matte formula that claims to last for 16 hours, I found it to be extremely wearable. It felt really comfortable, and not painted on or drying at all. My one issue, which for me is a major issue, is that I found quite a bit of noticeable feathering, pretty soon after I applied. Major thumbs down moment.
Now for the color choice. This hue is sooo specific. If I had a really serious summer tan, then maybe it would work. But a shade this dark really just washed me out. And I am an adventurous lippie girl....I actually prefer deep reds and berries over nudes any day of the week. But this shade in particular was really just so deep, almost black, and just did not work for me. I tried to lighten up the mood with a fun pair of earrings (LOL!) but um, you'll see from the photo that the whole look just did not work! Maybe Round 3 will find me a clear winner???
